Keen to escape the city smog we boarded a bus to Chitwan National Park in search of the famous Nepali wildlife. We splashed out to stay inside the park which we thought would surely guarantee us a greater chance of spotting the Nepalese ‘big five’ and boy, was it worth it: Crashing through the undergrowth at number 5, it’s the Nepalese cockerel. Woo hoo. A new entry flying in at number 4, it's a dragonfly. In at 3, yes you’ve guessed it, it’s the gecko. Down one place at number 2 it’s the mongoose and finally, in the top spot it’s that old Asian favourite, the peacock. Luckily the dawn elephant ride and bath time made up for the lack of show-stopping wildlife.
