a woodworm’s paradise

they can't spell either these puppets...
What the Lonely Planet omits to tell you about the Bhartiya Lok Kala Puppet Museum, Udaipur is that it belongs in a museum itself. The last time somebody visited with a can of pledge was around 1974 from what we can gather. Apart from the sinister, dust clad occupants seen here, there is daily folk dancing and puppet show at 6pm. Though the puppetry was quite endearing, it was somewhat spoiled by the rudimentary audio narration – a man swapping over cassette tapes between each act which would sometimes stop abruptly before the end or worse, get rapidly ejected when he realised it was the wrong segment of narration. It was one hour of our lives that we’ll never be able to claw back. Jim Henson and friends need not panic.
